Happy Blogday!

OK, it’s been a traumatic 24 hours for all of us who had invested so heavily in writing stuff on the Richard Dawkins forum (see previous post).  However the 23rd February has a happier meaning to me – it’s exactly a year since I started my blog, and i have had over 28,000 hits in that year. I’m quite pleased! 🙂 (In case you were wondering inspired by Beast Rabban’s blog I set it up in june of 2008 – the first real post was not till the next February 23rd however.)

An awful lot has happened in that year, and i don’t intend to go back through my twelve months, but I am delighted with the loyal following the blog has developed, especially as i rarely write on the same subject two posts running. I’d like to thank my six loyal email subscribers who receive my inane ramblings direct to their in-trays – I know who you are – and the dozens of commenters who argue, discuss, expound and generally make the blog a hundred times more interesting that it would be otherwise.

I know my life is convoluted and, er, eclectic – not all of you are interested in religion, the economy, parapsychology, history, atheist forums or whatever. I hope that you just skip past my posts that will bore you stupid. I know I do!  My life is probably pretty dull, and mundane, compared to most of you — but I do like to share my silly ideas and wild thoughts.

This year (2010) I have made  conscious effort to talk about a major part of my life I had neglected somewhat in the firs ten months of the blog – my interest in games, be they board games, rpgs or computer games. I know many of you would be more interested if i stuck to history, religion or ghosts — but I think the blog should reflect all my interests. At the moment I have half-written pieces on “1173 and all that”, the “Social History of Britain as seen through Sitcoms”, “The Biological Basis of Religion”, “Philosophy of Mind”, “the real Robin Hood?”, a couple of game reviews, and a few other bits and bobs. Still I owe it to my readers (if there are any and you don’t take a look then run off!) to try and talk about stuff that interests you chaps and ladies – so go on, what shall we talk about in the next 12 months?) And as the only other person to have written anything fr the blog so far is Becky, (on Poltergeists), should I open it up to other authors?

It’s not just my blog — it’s your blog as well. Please do tell me what you would like to see!

And it only remains to wish you   happy February, and thank you for reading my drivel.

all the best

About Chris Jensen Romer

I am a profoundly dull, tedious and irritable individual. I have no friends apart from two equally ill mannered cats, and a lunatic kitten. I am a ghosthunter by profession, and professional cat herder. I write stuff and do TV things and play games. It's better than being real I find.

Happy anniversary Chris, and here’s to many more years of your eclectic pieces. Not interested in games (about the only pages I skip in Fortean Times are the games reviews) but I can still marvel at your ability to put together materials for an enjoyable evening out of cardboard and sticky tape. Hail to thee, heir of Blue Peter! I personally enjoy your musings on the paranormal and would be happy to see more of that. Or more comment on news items that you find worth a discussion.

As to opening your blog up to third parties, I prefer it when they reflect their owner’s personality. It’s not difficult to set one up so if others feel the urge to blog, they can always do it for themselves (partners such as Becky are different).

Thanks Tom: I have been so caught up in the high net-drama of the melt down of Richard Dawkin’s forum (and his reputation) that I have not responded. I seriously hope to be able to move on in a few days — but I have been as a very long term member of the community quite heavily involved in recent events.

I will get back to parapsychology tomorrow, my sinus infection is finally lifting and i feel much bette rnow
