The Science of Ghosts, Saturday, April 4th 2009, Edinburgh Uni

I’ll be attending this event, and felt that although Edinburgh Science Festival will clearly never be as dear to my heart as Cheltenham Science Festival this sounded really fun – so just in case anyone else interested, here is the advert! Yes I know it is in Edinburgh, but I have the ticket now! Anyone else want to go?

I ATTENDED THE EVENT — AND IT WAS EXCELLENT. 🙂 You can read my report here of - the website of - the website

“Join renowned psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman and a host of leading experts to examine the science and history of hauntings. Are spirit photographs evidence of the afterlife or ingenious trickery? How do scientists investigate haunted houses, and what have they found? Can your brain fool you into seeing an apparition? Come along and witness a genuine Victorian phantasmagoria, discover how poltergeists once panicked the nation, and meet the man responsible for ghostly goings-on in Harry Potter movies.

Investigating haunted locations: A scientific approach (Prof Richard Wiseman: Psychologist)

Imaging the impossible: Investigating spirit photography (Gordon Rutter: Writer)

Things that go bump in the mind: The psychology of apparitions (Dr Caroline Watt: Psychologist)

The haunted: A social history of ghosts (Prof Owen Davies: Historian)

“No more ghosts!”: The regency phantasmagoria (Dr Mervyn Heard: Historian and performer)

About Chris Jensen Romer

I am a profoundly dull, tedious and irritable individual. I have no friends apart from two equally ill mannered cats, and a lunatic kitten. I am a ghosthunter by profession, and professional cat herder. I write stuff and do TV things and play games. It's better than being real I find.
